Hi there, Hazel!

It's great that you're finally here, Hazel! I know you're really going to like it here on the outside...

There are a lot of fun things you can do. Here I'm flinging some toys in the air. You couldn't do this in your old living space. Once you get used to air, it's a pretty cool thing.

You're lucky because you have a really nice Mommy like I do, and a good Daddy who likes to take pictures. Sometimes I almost don't recognize my Daddy without a camera.

You have terrific grandparents, like me too. Just look at this neato card I got from my Grandma and Grandpa Poppe on the day you were born.

I can't read it yet, but I already have a lot to say about it.

If you're anything like me, you will probably like sparkly stuff too. Oh, and mirrors. Every time I look into a mirror, there's a baby in it!

You're gonna love taking baths. Today I got to take a bath in the big people tub.

Someday I may be embarrassed of this photo, but right now my parents keep talking about how cute it is. I'm sure you'll hear a lot of that stuff too.

Toys are a lot of fun, especially in the bath. Just wait, you'll see.

I could splash in nice warm water all day, especially on a cold day like today. I hear that where you live is even colder than where I live.

Although I didn't know it yet, you were born right about the time this picture was taken. See how happy I am?

Clothes are something that you will like. They keep you warm and I've heard they are fun to shop for, whatever that means. This sweater is really soft and it's one of my favorites. Maybe someday it will be one of your favorites too.

Now it's time for a little something to eat. I really like sweet potatoes, carrots and bananas. You'll be more interested in that type of food in a few months.

This is me and Oma talking to your Daddy. He was sorta tired after a long day, but very happy that you have arrived. He said that you and your Mommy were already asleep. I'm waving "hi" anyway.

I hope you had a good first day, Hazel. I can't wait to meet you someday soon! Oh, and be nice to your parents. Just so you know, it takes a while to train them and you have to be a little patient. I've gotten mine sorted out fairly well now.
