Chewing and Balancing

| For Stella, the high chair has been an intriguing new addition to the house. |
It gives her a commanding view of the house and its inhabitants, including those who nurture... |
| ...and those who don't think she deserves the extra attention. |
But mostly the high chair is a place for something else. |
| And that something else is... |
FOOD! |
| Rice cereal remains a favorite, but oatmeal is gaining favor too. |
Stella hasn't quite mastered the art of spoonery, but she's eager to try. |
| Although it might appear to the contrary, she does actually successfully eat a lot more than ends up on her bib. |
Mommy is the apple of Stella's eye... |
| ...in her new sunglasses. |
These shades not only look cool, but are great protection on sunny walks. |
| Stella hanging out with the girls. Mommy, Oma and cousin Ally. |
Thanksgiving brought the introduction of more solid food. Although the amount of nutrition she received by gumming on this carrot is questionable, a fun time was had by all. |
| Cousin Jonas helped out by cleaning out the whipped cream bowl. |

The Santa Claus parade and tree lighting was fun and not as cold as it has been in the past. |
| Stella stayed snuggly and warm in her pink bunny suit. |
Patrick and Danielle reacquainting themselves with holding a baby. |
| Ally is looking forward to having a baby around too, after being an aspiring mother to some very durable plastic babies. |
Stella enjoys chewing on things, but no sign of teeth coming in as of yet. |
| Raspberry from Mommy. |
Somehow while sitting on Auntie Kristin's lap she grabbed a pretzel and slurped on it for a while. |
| Our old friend Justin stopped by and showed us a balance trick he perfected with his two daughters. First is to get in a steady position and wait for the baby to stiffen her legs... |
...then let baby take over, assisting with the balance as needed. |
| She could balance for about 10 seconds at a time. Really quite amazing. |
Apparently babies can balance with assistance like this up until the point where they try to stand on their own. Then their own sense of balance takes over and they can no longer do this trick. |
| Acrobatic feats such as riding Mommy's shoulders are fun too, and a little easier on Mommy's nerves. |
