Mommy Update

Chocolate milk is still high on the priorities list. However a new contender in a related category made a debut today: a malted chocolate milkshake. It was apparently enjoyed by both Mommy and the little bun. See for yourself.

The gonzo journalist took his own life on February 20 at his home near Aspen, Colorado.

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

The new Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson has quite a catchy theme song. It seems to be based on Mr. Blue Sky by ELO. The last line is particularly poignant. The show itself is pretty good too.

The New LLS Theme Song:

It's Hard to Stay Up
It's Been a Long, Long Day and You Got the Sandman at the Door
But Hang On, Leave the TV On and Let's Do It Anyway
It's OK, You Can Always Sleep Through Work Tomorrow, OK?
Hey Hey
Tomorrow's Just a Future Yesterday.

Bill Moyers speaks of the dangers we face with the combination of theology and ideology in the Bush administration

Recently retired from the excellent PBS news program "Now", Bill Moyers, one of the last bastions of credibility in the American news system, voices his concerns over the strangle hold the the radical religious right has on power and just how frightening of a prospect it is. Read the text taken from Moyers' remarks upon receiving the Global Environmental Citizen Award from the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School.

Studs Terkel's "The 'Good' War: An Oral History of World War II"

While recently reading "The 'Good' War: An Oral History of World War II", I was astonished how applicable the attitudes concerning the experience of World War II are still today. Terkel's book is a compilation of first hand dialogs with people who saw the war from different facets. Although those interviewed in the book spoke of events in a much different time, societal attitudes have not changed as much as might be assumed. If anything, it's clear that we haven't learned much from the mistakes and failures of the past. As a society we still prefer to distance ourselves from the unknown, alienate and abuse those who are different and are politically manipulated through fear and propaganda at the whim of our leadership. It's curious to see that then as now, those most eager to engage in war are often the least likely to experience it first hand. Throughout the book, the people most exposed to suffering and horror are also the strongest voices for peace and diplomacy. Something to think about.

Mommy Update

She just treated herself to a nice cup of chocolate milk. Slight fluttering feelings are occasionally detectable, she reports. Stretchy fleece pants are the fashion statement of the season. That is all for now.

Images are in from the ultrasound!

Otherwise, sneak a peek.

Julie and I were quite excited to see the ultrasound, and it didn't disappoint. We were spectators for about 20 minutes of the dance party happening inside club Mommy. One thing is for sure—we have an active little construction project. Check out some predictions of the completion date, or add your own guess.
